Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy explains how Zelar Solutions, trading as MySportIQ (“MySportIQ”, “we”, “us”), based in South Africa, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the MySportIQ platform at mysportiq.co.za and related applications (the “Service”). We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party is Zelar Solutions (trading as MySportIQ). Where a school uses MySportIQ to manage its sports programme, the school determines what information about its learners, coaches and staff is entered, and acts as a responsible party in its own right; MySportIQ processes that information as an operator on the school’s behalf and under this policy.
Questions, requests or complaints: hello@zelar.co.za.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, role, the school you belong to, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- School information — school name, location, contact details, sports offered, colours and logo.
- Team and player information — team names and rosters, and for players: name, date of birth, jersey number, playing position, and optionally height, weight and nationality. This information is entered by the school’s coaches or administrators.
- Parent links — where a parent links to a child, the connection between the parent’s account and the player’s profile, and an optional nickname.
- Match and scoring data — fixtures, venues, live scores, match events, statistics and results.
- Billing information — the school’s subscription plan, invoices, payment references and PayFast subscription token. Card and instant-EFT payments are processed entirely on PayFast’s secure payment page: we never see, collect or store card numbers or banking credentials.
- Technical information — IP address, browser type and basic usage logs, used for security, rate-limiting and diagnosing problems.
3. Children’s information
MySportIQ is used by schools and processes information about learners, many of whom are under 18. This information is provided and managed by the school and its authorised staff. A parent or guardian may create an account to follow their own child’s fixtures, results and statistics. If you believe a child’s information has been added without a proper basis, contact us and we will investigate and, where appropriate, remove it.
4. How we use information
- To provide and operate the Service — accounts, dashboards, live scoring, fixtures, league tables and analytics.
- To send transactional messages such as invoices, payment reminders and account notifications.
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse and troubleshoot problems.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Who we share information with
- Your school — coaches, administrators and (for their own children) linked parents can see the information relevant to their role.
- Service providers — Resend (sending email), PayFast (processing card and instant-EFT payments, under its own privacy policy), Google (only if you choose Google sign-in), and our hosting provider. These providers process information only to provide their service to us.
- Legal — where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Where information is stored
The Service is hosted on servers located in the European Union (Germany). Email is sent via Resend. This means your information may be transferred outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection, consistent with POPIA’s rules on cross-border transfers.
7. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as an account or school subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and dispute-resolution needs. A school may ask us to delete its data when it stops using the Service; some records (such as invoices) are retained for the period required by law.
8. Security
Connections to the Service are encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to systems is limited to authorised personnel. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you may, subject to the Act’s conditions:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive or out of date;
- object to processing in certain circumstances; and
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@zelar.co.za. If your information was entered by a school, we may refer your request to that school.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email. The “last updated” date above shows the current version.
